Young people visiting the museum with family members, both boys and girls, really do enjoy themselves. Whether it's viewing the exhibits, getting some hands-on experience of armoury or military uniforms and even flying our VR flight simulator. Our young visitors really do make the most of their visit. There is such a lot for them to see plus, of course, senior family members enjoy seeing them so enthralled. Because the war years form part of the school curriculum it's something many of them already have knowledge of, but mostly from books, seldom, if ever from genuine WW2 artifacts. They also enjoy telling our volunteers what they know - and finding out more!.
Paul and Linda and some volunteers used to load much of their rare WW2 collection into a 2 Ton army truck and visit schools to assist with learning. The feedback received from Nottinghamshire Education Authority and hundreds of children after their ‘mobile museum’ events proved that these learning days became something the children will never forget. After opening the static museum, certain days of the week were devoted to school visits.
